Sheet Pan Steak and Oven Baked Fries

Before you even think about going out to eat and spending too much money on a delicious steak, watch this video and learn how easy, and how much more affordable it is, to make your own steak at home. I made it all in the sheet pan, with a tiny bit of help from the cast iron skillet.

Sheet Pan Steak and Oven Baked Fries

2 Excellent Quality Steaks (I used NY Strip)

1 tbsp unsalted butter

4 Russet Potatoes

3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

generous salt and pepper

Peel the potatoes and slice into long French Fry cuts. Place in water while you cut the rest of the potatoes. I recommend doing this ahead of time to cut down on prep time during busy weeknights. Remove the potatoes from water and dry thoroughly on a clean dish cloth. Place on a parchment lined baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil, salt and pepper. Toss to coat and spread out so the potatoes are not touching. Bake at 400 degrees for 12 minutes. Then get a cast iron skillet and heat to high. Sprinkle the steaks with salt and pepper generously, on both sides, and pat the seasoning so it sticks to the steaks. Place the butter in the pan and add the steaks. Allow to sear on high heat for 3 minutes. Flip the steaks and turn off the heat, allow the steaks to cook in the pan until the fries are ready. Move the fries to the side to make room for steaks and place the steaks on the sheet pan. Put back in the oven and bake for another 5-7 minutes. Allow the steaks to rest for several minutes before slicing.
